Rear-seat legroom is actually pretty good in the 2-door Defender 90, but we’d rather be riding in the back of the roomier 4-door Defender 110.

Full leather upholstery, premium Windsor leather upholstery, leather and microsuede upholstery, ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats are available. Partial leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats and a heated, leather-wrapped and power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel come standard. It swings out toward the curb, which not everyone will like because it can impede access." - Edmunds (2023)ĭepending on body style, the Defender seats between five and eight people across two or three rows. Unlike like most SUVs, the Defender has a swing-out tailgate instead of a liftgate. "When the Defender is equipped with the air suspension, you can lower the ride height from the cargo area to make loading heavy objects a little easier."Cargo space behind the rear seat in 90 and 110 models is limited, but on par with rival off-roaders such as the Wrangler the rear seats can be folded to open up a much larger cargo bay but those seeking to haul people and gear may want to look at the larger Land Rover Discovery or invest in a roof-top cargo carrier." - Car and Driver. The 2-row Defender 110 has a much more practical 34 cubic-foot cargo area, and the new Defender 130 Outbound ditches the third row to make a huge 46.9 cubic-foot cargo hold behind the back seats." - Kelley Blue Book "The Defender 90 and Defender 130 are tight on cargo space when all seats are in place only about 15 cubic feet in both.

The 130 is the most capacious Defender, with 15.3 cubic feet of room behind the third row, 35.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 76.1 cubic feet behind the first row. The three-row version has 10.7 cubic feet behind the third row, 34.6 cubic feet behind the second row and 69 cubic feet with both rows folded down. With the two-row configuration, the Defender 110 provides a respectable 34 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 78.8 cubic feet with these seats folded. The four-door Defender 110 fares much better. The two-door Defender 90 has a scant 15.6 cubic feet of room behind the second row and 58.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. The Defender's cargo room varies based on which body style you choose, and it ranges from subpar to pretty good for the luxury midsize SUV class. Our test vehicle was an early build version that was undoubtedly used hard, but hard use is what a Defender should be built to withstand." - Edmunds (2023) "The interior materials didn't quite seem to reflect the $72,000 as-tested price - they were already showing signs of wear, markings and stains.Still, this interior is much more luxurious than other off-road all-stars, namely the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Bronco." - Kelley Blue Book (2023)

Some interior materials feel a little sub-par for a luxury vehicle. "It has a simple design that looks rugged, but it’s full of tech features you’d expect in a luxury SUV."The Defender's cabin walks the line between premium and utilitarian, with just enough design cues from the rest of the Land Rover lineup to make those familiar with the brand feel at home." - Car and Driver.
